By now you’ve probably heard about the crazy story with Olympic snowboarder Shaun White. Allegedly, he got wasted in Nashville, forced a hotel to be evacuated by pulling the fire alarm, destroyed a phone in the hotel, then proceeded to get arrested for public intoxication and vandalism. Even with all that info, many people were left wondering what led up to these antics at 2am. Well, now we know why…

Turns out, Shaun was attending the wedding of Patrick Carney, drummer for The Black Keys. The were roughly 350 people in attendance at the nuptials (our invitation must have gotten lost in the mail) and it’s safe to assume an open bar was also present.

Look, who among us hasn’t celebrated too hard at a wedding? It’s a joyous occassion! Throw in some drinking-friendly party music (which The Black Keys can provide) and it’s no surprise to hear Shaun ended up hammered. Thankfully, he didn’t follow the current celebrity trend of jumping behind the wheel while drunk (Lindsey, Amanda, we’re looking at you).

Shaun has a court date on October 9. Our prediction? He’ll pay for the damage, perhaps a fine on top of that, and maybe some community service to teach him a lesson. A couple of months from now, he’ll be laughing about it… assuming that black eye has cleared up by then.
